Voice AI: variable interview expiration dates + more October updates

October was a big month for Voice AI. A wave of updates shipped, giving candidates a smoother interview experience and giving hiring teams more control over how interviews are set up, scored, and tracked. Here’s what’s new.
You asked, we shipped: variable interview expiry dates
Until now, every candidate invited to a Voice AI interview worked against the same end date. That’s great for structured campaigns, but it fell short the moment you needed flexibility.
Now you can choose:
- Global end date. One expiration date for the entire interview, same as before.
- Per-invite expiry. Every candidate invite gets its own timeline, tied to when they were invited.
Existing interviews stay on global end dates. When you switch an interview to per-invite, existing invites keep their original expiry. Only new invites use the new setting.

For candidates: a smoother experience from start to finish
A connectivity check that actually catches issues. When a candidate enters a Voice AI interview, the connectivity test now checks their Wi-Fi, internet connection, connection quality, link to the interview service, and whether audio and video can get through. Fewer surprises mid-interview, fewer “sorry, can you repeat that” moments.

Candidates can control the pace. A new control in the bottom right lets candidates speed up or slow down Voice AI during the interview. Faster thinkers can move faster. Candidates who need a moment to process can slow things down.

Native in-product support. A support bot is now live on candidate and recruiter pages after authentication, so help is one click away.
For hiring teams: more control, sharper signal
Choose an English accent to match your audience. When English is set as the interview language, you can now choose American, British, or Australian. Small change, meaningful for global brand consistency.
Add closed questions to interview setup. Need to ask something specific like “What year does your work authorization expire?” You can now add closed questions that skip “what to listen for” and don’t trigger follow-ups. They still count toward the three to five question best practice.
Sharper scoring for skipped questions. If a candidate was asked a question but didn’t give enough to evaluate (e.g., “I don’t have an example for this”), it now scores a 0 instead of N/A. Questions the interview never reached stay N/A. The result: scorecards that reflect what actually happened. Applies to newly completed interviews.
For Greenhouse Recruiting customers
Track Voice AI interview status as a candidate custom field. Voice AI interview status is now a candidate custom field in Greenhouse Recruiting, so you can filter and segment candidates by interview status alongside opt-out. Populates for new Voice AI interviews only.
A smarter job post import flow. Setting up a Voice AI interview now walks you through a short wizard: pick the job first, then the specific job post assigned to it.
